Ashley Wilmes & Tim Mayer (Environmental Law)

Ashley Wilmes is an attorney in Lexington, where she specializes in environmental law and federal criminal defense. She is a graduate of Centre College, where she earned a B.S. in Mathematics, and the University of Oregon School of Law. Prior to moving back to her home state of Kentucky several years ago, Ashley was in-house counsel for environmental advocacy organization WildEarth Guardians in Boulder and was a visiting lecturer with the Environmental Law Clinic at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She has represented organizations across the country in cases under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act, and has argued environmental matters before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. Ashley serves on the executive committee of the Kentucky Sierra Club, is chair-elect of the Environmental Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, and is the mom to two young boys.

Timothy Mayer is an attorney for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Energy and Environment Cabinet. He is a graduate of Kent State University where he earned a B.A. in Applied Conflict Management, and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. After completing his undergraduate studies, Tim worked as a rural organizer for the Community Farm Alliance in Frankfort where he lobbied on state legislation to expand farmers markets and help producers, and he also worked to expand access to local food in public schools. Upon graduating from law school, Tim served as a judicial clerk to Judge Thomas D. Wingate at the Franklin County Circuit Court. Tim currently serves on both the Franklin County Farmers Market Board and the Friends of the Franklin County Farmers Market Board, and he is the chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association.
